قلت عنه إنه صاحب قلب شاب رفرف على جلساتنا كما يرفرف الطائر الجسور الباحث عن محط ريح في عالم فقد راحته.. وقالوا لي إنه عندما قرأ كلمتي عنه في المجلة هز رأسه بامتنان وأسى.. وقد فهمت على الفور ما هو سر الامتنان.. وما هو سبب الأسى.. فالرجل الذي يلج الشيخوخة كثيرا ما يسعده القول بأنه ما زال يقتني قلبا شابا ويداخله الامتنان لهذا الوصف.. ولكنه عندما يقف في مواجهة نفسه بالصراحة الخالية من التجمل وإسباغ الأوصاف المريحة يتذكر في أسى أن قلبه – ذلك الشاب كما يقولون – ما حاز هذا الثناء إلا تلطيفا لواقع عمره الأليم .. وهنا يتذكر كيف مر به عمره هكذا سريعا، وانساب من بين أصابعه كما تنساب الرمال الناعمة .. ثم يعاود النظر إلى ما بين يديه من حصاد ويكتشف أنه لا يكاد يرى إلا هشيما يقلبه بين كفيه .. ثم يتساءل: كيف يرى الآخرون حصادي؟
