طلب مني فضيلة الشيخ حسن محمد الكتبي، سليل النبوة، والوزير السابق للأوقاف والحج في المملكة العربية السعودية، أن أكتب كتابا عن الحجرات الشريفة، وما جرى فيها من الأمور بين النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وأزواجه، وصحابته، فأجبته لما طلب، فإذا بي أجد أن طلبه هذا يمثل كتابة سيرة مختصرة للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في خلال حياته الخاصة، ويكشف عن نواح مهمة من جوانب تعامله، ويبين أهمية هذه الحجرات ومكانتها، إذ يكفيها فخرا أن الله تعالى أنزل في القرآن الكريم سورة تسمى سورة الحجرات، وأن القرآن كان ينزل فيها، وأنها محل جلوس رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأزواجه الطاهرات. ولم نستقص جميع ما ذكر فيها، بل ذكرنا خلاصة ما حدث فيها، وبينا حرمتها على المسلمين، ثم ذكرنا تاريخ بنائها على مدى السنين والأيام، وكتبنا هذا الكتاب على عجلة من أمرنا، ونسأل الله تعالى القبول إنه أفضل مأمول وأكرم مسئول وآخر دعوانا أن الحمد لله رب العالمين.
