عام الانتظار .. هذا ما يمكن أن نصف به هذه السنة بأحداثها وصراعاتها. فالقطب الذي ظن نفسه أنه أصبح مهيمنا بات مثقلا بحروب كبرى، خاضها منذ عدة سنوات، ولكنه أصبح الآن يعيش أجواء أشبه بهزيمة في العراق وأفغانستان، ثم جاءت كارثة الأزمة المالية، وإفلاس أكبر بنك أمريكي، وتعرض الاقتصاد العالمي لأكبر هزة في تاريخه منذ ستين عاما تقريبا، ويدفع العالم كله ثمن الجشع، بل قل ثمن نظام رأسمالي سائد وقائم على الربا، ومحاربة رب العزة ورسوله، فأنى له ؟ تقول دراسة تحليلية أعدها مجلس المخابرات القومي الأمريكي تحت عنوان ((الاتجاهات العالمية في 2025م)) وأعلن عنها في شهر نوفمبر 2008 م: إن الأزمة المالية العالمية الحالية هي بداية إعادة توازن اقتصادي عالمي، وإن دور الدولار الأمريكي باعتباره العملة العالمية الرئيسة سيضعف، كما سيتزايد الاعتماد على مصادر طاقة بديلة عن النفط. ويذكر التقرير الذي استند إلى مسح عالمي لخبراء واتجاهات، أجراه محللو مخابرات أمريكيون، أن العشرين عاما المقبلة ستكون فترة انتقالية نحو نظام عالمي جديد ملئ بالمخاطر. ويتوقع التقرير انضمام الصين والهند إلى الولايات المتحدة على رأس القوى الكبرى، وأن تنافس الدولتان أمريكا على النفوذ، ويقول: إن وضع روسيا كقوة كبرى غير مؤكد، بينما ستحصل دول مثل تركيا وإيران وإندونيسيا على نفوذ متزايد. ويقول التقرير: إن النظام العالمي الذي تشكل بع الحرب العالمية الثانية ستنطمس معالمه تماما بحلول عام 2025 م؛ بسبب بروز القوى الجديدة الصاعدة، وعولمة الاقتصاد، والانتقال التاريخي للثروة من الغرب إلى الشرق. ويتوقع تقرير الاستخبارات أن يتمحور التنافس على التجارة والتطورات والابتكارات التقنية، وعلى عمليات الاستحواذ، ويقول: إنه من غير المستبعد أن يشهد العالم عودة إلى سيناريو مشابه لسباق التسلح في القرن التاسع عشر، والتنافس العسكري، والتوسع الإقليمي.
