كانت الفلسفة الإسلامية – وما تزال – مجالا خصبا للدراسة والبحث، فهي بحكم تنوع موضوعاتها، وتعدد مناهجها، واختلاف مؤثراتها، ومجالات تطبيقها أصبحت موضوعا يغري الباحث المتأمل في المسائل الميتافيزيقية، والمهتم بشؤون الدين والحياة، والناظر في المشكلات الإنسانية، والسياسية، والدارس لمناهج العلوم وموضوعاتها، والمتتبع لتاريخ الحضارات وتداولها، كما أصبحت تغري الناقد والأديب والعالم والفنان. لقد تميزت الفلسفة الإسلامية بخصائص عديدة يصعب أن نجد لها نظيرا في الفلسفات الأخرى، فوجود مثل هذه الخصائص مجتمعة في هيكل ثقافي واحد هو الذي طبع هذه الفلسفة بطابع جديد ومتميز. حقيقة أن الدارسين للفلسفة الإسلامية كثيرا ما يختلفون حول مصادر هذه الفلسفة ومؤثراتها بين متحمس لروح الإسلام وكتابه الكريم، والمصادر اليونانية التي عملت عملها في الفكر الفلسفي الإسلامي، والأصول الشرقية التي يصعب التقليل من أهميتها، وتأثيرات الفكر الفلسفي الذي جاء مرتبطا بالأفكار الدينية التي سادت قبل الإسلام، بل ربما تحدث الباحثون عن أثر الحياة العربية قبل الإسلام في هذه الفلسفة، وربما كان هذا الاختلاف نفسه دليلا على هذا النمط الفلسفي المتميز الذي نجده في هذه الفلسفة. والصفحات القادمة التي تشكل إحدى مساهمات باحثنا في الفلسفة الإسلامية هي – كما شاء لها صاحبها – بعض لمحات من هذا الصرح الكبير لهذه الفلسفة، أو هي – كما شاء لها أيضا – هي مجرد مدخل لهذا البناء الكبير من أبنية الفر البشري، أراد كاتبها أن يفتح مزيدا من الأبواب للدارسين لهذا الفكر الفلسفي العربي والإسلامي ويلقي للراغبين في التعرف على هذا الفكر ضوءا على طبيعة الفلسفة الإسلامية، ومشكلاتها وأهم رجالها.
