خص ابن الصابوني كتابه بذكر نظائر الضاد والظاء، فذكر، رحمه الله، سبعة وعشرين لفظا بالضاد، ومثلها بالظاء. ولكل لفظ بالضاد معنى غير المعنى الذي في نظيره بالظاء. وفي الكتاب غزارة في الاستشهاد على الرغم من صغر حجمه، ففيه : خمس وثلاثون آية من القرآن الكريم، وحديثان، وواحد وخمسون بيتا من الشعر، وعشرون بيتا من الرجز، وشطر واحد من الشعر. ومن اللافت للنظر هذه الشواهد من الأشعار والأرجاز التي انفرد بذكرها، ولم نقف عليها في سائر كتب الضاد والظاء. وهذا يؤكد قولنا : إنه لا يغني كتاب عن كتاب.
