نظرا لأهمية استخدام رجال المخابرات في مجال أمن البلاد، نجد أن أعمالهم كانت موجودة مع الإنسان منذ القدم، ولكنها أصبحت في العصور الإسلامية أكثر استخداما وتركيزا وتطورا، وقد دفعني إلى اختيار هذا الموضوع والكتابة فيه مدى حساسيته وخطورته، ومدى أهميته بالنسبة للعصر النبوي وعصر الخلفاء الراشدين والعصر الأموي. في مجال الأمن، ومقاومة الجاسوسية المضادة، وكقطاع هام في الدولة الإسلامية، من قطاعات القوات الإسلامية. إن المخابرات في الإسلام ملازمة لظهوره، فكان لها وجود واضح، وأثر جلي عظيم، ولكن مع هذا الوجود وهذا الأثر، نجد أن الكتابة في هذا المجال قليلة ونادرة، وبخاصة التناول العلمي التأصيلي، فالحديث عن المخابرات الإسلامية شذرات متناثرة في بطون الكتب هنا وهناك، فكان من الواجب أن أنقب عن هذه الشذرات المتناثرة، وأجمعها لكي أصل إلى حقيقة هؤلاء العيون العظيمة.
