اختلفت أهداف المستشرقين من دراسة الإسلام، والذين اقتصر هدفهم على الطعن في الإسلام ركزوا أبحاثهم على القرآن الكريم، متتبعين الأحاديث والأخبار والروايات الضعيفة والموضوعة، أو التي أخذ بها بعض المنحرفين من الفرق الإسلامية، فاعتمدوها نصوصا صحيحة بنوا عليها آراءهم ومطاعنهم، حتى وصل الأمر ببعضهم إلى اقتراح ترتيب جديد لآيات القرآن الكريم. والمؤلف الباحث الذي أذهله تجني المستشرقين على الإسلام أمضى ثماني سنوات في هذا البحث الأكاديمي الذي نال به درجة الماجيستر، ضمن بحثه الموضوعات الآتية: - التطور التأريخي لعلاقة الاستشراق بالقرآن الكريم. - تنزيل القرآن الكريم في المنظور الاستشراقي. - تدوين القرآن الكريم وجمعه في عهدي النبوة والخلافة الراشدة في المنظور الاستشراقي. - طعون المستشرقين في النص القرآني. وقد بين التحامل في آراء المستشرقين، ورد أباطيلهم بأسلوب علمي رصين يليق بدراسة علمية أكاديمية.
