سوزان سونتاج (16 يناير 1933 - 28 ديسمبر 2004) ناقدة ومخرجة وروائية أميركية، من أعمالها الروائية "Against interpretation" عام 1966 و"The benefactor" عام 1963 و"styles of radical will" عام 1969، ومن أفلامها كمخرجة "Brother carl" عام 1974.

صدر حديثا عن دار المدى كتاب (ولادة ثانية) للروائية سوزان سونتاغ، بترجمة عباس المفرجي.. (( كل امرئ له غموضه ))، تكتب سوزان سونتاغ في يومياتها. ونحن نتحرّى غموضها في هذه اليوميات التي بدأت كتابتها في عمر الخامسة عشرة، مسجلة (( أجزاءً من الاعتراف العظيم ))، على حد عبارة غوته الشهيرة. يوميات، (( كتبت فقط لنفسها، وعلى نحو متواصل، منذ فترة مراهقتها المبكرة حتى آخر سنوات حياتها... لم تسمح بنشر سطر منها، كما لم تقرأ منها، بخلاف بعض كتّاب اليوميات، الى أصدقائها، حتى المقربين منهم ))، كما كتب محرر هذه اليوميات وابن الكاتبة ديفيد ريف في مقدمته لليوميات، الذي نشر مختارات منها في كتاب صدر تحت عنوان " ولادة ثانية "، وهو الجزء الأول من ثلاثية ستصدر تباعا، ويتناول في هذا الجزء اليوميات المبكرة، بين عامي 1947 و1964.
