حمادة بجسمه السمين كان يعتقد أنه مخلوق غير محدد الهوية، شيء ما يقع في منتصف الطريق بين الذكر والأنثى، وربما كان هذا هو سبب مشاريعه الدائمة وغير المنتهية لتخسيس نفسه. ربى دودة قز ذات مرة وهو صغير، رآها وهي تتحول إلى شرنقة ثم تخرج فراشة منها وتطير بعيدا. أعتقد أنه، بنفس الطريقة، فسوف ينتهي من كائن مخنث، رخو،برمائي، يعيش بين تراب كرموز والبحيرة التي يقع في وسطها تمثال الفرخة، إلى الأنوثة الكاملة. تظل هرمونات الأنوثة تصارع هرمونات الذكورة داخل جسمه، تظل هرمونات الذكورة تخسر معاركها، تنسحب من مواقعها التي تسيطر عليها هرمونات الأنوثة فوريا، إلى أن يحدث الانفجار الكبير : ينفجر كرشه وثدياه ومؤخرته لتخرج من داخله أنثى كاملة، قوية وعنيفة وقادرة على فشخ العالم في أفكاره.
