"هنالك سؤال محدد يطرحه هذا الكتاب ويحاول صاحبه جاهدا الإجابة عنه : ما المعيار العام الذي يقيض لنا الاعتداد به لتقويم المذاهب التي يذهب إليها البشر في محاولتهم اللاهجة للتعرف على كنه طبائع ما يستتر عن حواسهم؟ ولأن هذا السؤال - بطبيعته – ليس سؤالا فلسفيا تقليديا بل أقرب لأن يكون سؤالاً (( ما بعد فلسفي )) ، فقد أمضيت فصولا انبريت فيها للدفاع عن وجوب ومشروعية قيام مجال معرفي م "هنالك سؤال محدد يطرحه هذا الكتاب ويحاول صاحبه جاهدا الإجابة عنه : ما المعيار العام الذي يقيض لنا الاعتداد به لتقويم المذاهب التي يذهب إليها البشر في محاولتهم اللاهجة للتعرف على كنه طبائع ما يستتر عن حواسهم؟ ولأن هذا السؤال - بطبيعته – ليس سؤالا فلسفيا تقليديا بل أقرب لأن يكون سؤالاً (( ما بعد فلسفي )) ، فقد أمضيت فصولا انبريت فيها للدفاع عن وجوب ومشروعية قيام مجال معرفي متميز – اصطلحت على تسميته بفلسفة الفلسفة – يتسنى عبره طرح مثل هذا التساؤل قدر ما يتسنى عبره الجدل حول قيمة الفلسفة – إن كانت لها أدنى قيمة – ومغزاها – إن كان لها ثمة مغزى. إن ما أعني به في هذا السياق لا يتعلق بأي حال بأمر خطو البشر لخطوات أُخر في درب النفق سالف الذكر بل يتعلق بأمر إمكان أن يكون النفق دربا يسار فيه. بكلمات أوضح ، فإن ما يشغلني في تلك الفصول هو شأن النهج الذي ينتهج وذاك الذي ينبغي أن ينتهج للخلاص من المشاكل الفلسفية لا الطريقة التي يتم بها الخلاص منها. أما في سائر الفصول ، فإن مكمن الاهتمام يتعين في البحث عن أكثر السبل ملاءمة للتعرف على بعض ملامح عالم الميتافيزيقا المستتر توطئة لتحديد إلى أي مدى يمكن للبشر تجاوز المعطيات الحسية التي يعول عليها بشكل او بآخر العلم الطبيعى."
