نهج الكتاب فقد جُمِع فيه كلُّ ما ورد من الأحاديث النبويَّة وآثار الصَّحابة، في الفتن والملاحم وأشراط السَّاعة من مظانِّه في الكتُب المسنَدة، والكتُب التي تخصَّصت في أحاديث الفِتن والملاحم وأشراط السَّاعة, وكان من منهج الكتاب الاقتصارُ في ذلك على ما له تعلُّق ظاهر بالشَّام (سوريَة)، فلم يُذكر إلَّا ما كان صريحًا أنَّ المراد به سُوريَة، أو إحدى مُدنها أو قراها كـ(دمشق - الغوطة - دابق...)، أو جزَم بذلك العلماء، أو ذُكِرت فيها الشَّام دون تحديد لدخولِ سُوريَة تحت مسمَّى الشام، وأمَّا الأحاديث التي نصَّت على باقي بلاد الشَّام، كبيت المقدِس وغيرها فلم تُذكر.
واهتمَّ الكتاب بتخريج الأحاديث والآثار، مع تصدير الحُكم عليها من حيثُ الصِّحةُ والضَّعف، وجعْل تخريج أحاديث الباب في المتن، وتخريج الأحاديث الواردة أثناء الشَّرح في الحاشية, وفُسِّرت الكلمات الغريبة بناءً على ما جاء في المعاجم، وكتُب شروح الأحاديث.
كما شُرِحَت الأحاديث والآثار، مع بيان ما فيها من أحداثٍ وإرشادات وفوائدَ، واعتمَد الشَّرح على كتُب شروح الأحاديث، وما لم يكُن فيها فقد شُرِح وبُيِّن ما فيه بحسَب المعنى والسِّياق، وعلى ضوء الأحاديث الأخرى، وكلام أهل العِلم.
