إدوار الخراط (16 مارس 1926 - 1 ديسمبر 2015) كاتب مصري ولد بالإسكندرية لعائلة قبطية أصلها من الصعيد، حصل على ليسانس الحقوق من جامعة الإسكندرية عام 1946م، عمل في مخازن البحرية البريطانية في الكبارى بالإسكندرية، ثم موظفا في البنك الأهلى بالإسكندرية، عمل بعدها موظفا بشركة التأمين الأهلية المصرية عام 1955م، ثم مترجما بالسفارة الرومانية بالقاهرة.
اعتبرت أول مجموعة قصصية له (الحيطان العالية) 1959 منعطفًا حاسمًا في القصة العربية إذ ابتعد عن الواقعية السائدة آنذاك وركّز اهتمامه على وصف خفايا الأرواح المعرَّضة للخيبة واليأس، ثم أكدت مجموعته الثانية (ساعات الكبرياء) هذه النزعة إلى رسم شخوص تتخبط في عالم كله ظلم واضطهاد وفساد.
أما روايته الأولى (رامة والتِنِّين) 1980 فشكّلت حدثًا أدبيًا من الطراز الأول، تبدو على شكل حوار بين رجل وامرأة تختلط فيها عناصر أسطورية ورمزية فرعونية ويونانية وإسلامية.
ثم أعاد الخراط الكرة بـ(الزمان الآخر) 1985 وبعدد من القصص والروايات (وإن صعب تصنيف هذه النصوص) متحررة من اللاعتبارات الإديولوجية التي كانت سائدة من قبل.
صدر لإدوار الخراط أكثر من 50 كتابًا قصصيًا أو شعريًا أو نقديًا، ومن مؤلفاته: حيطان عالية ساعات الكبرياء رامة والتنين الزمن الآخر أضلاع الصحراء كما قام بترجمة أربعة عشر كتاب إلى اللغة العربية، وعدد من المسرحيات والدراسات.
حصل على جائزة الدولة التشجيعية ووسام العلوم والفنون من الطبقة الأولى عام 1973م.

قال: أريد نظرتك إليّ باقية، فيما وراء الحسد، فيما وراء الموت القريب، وعيناي، أريدهما دائماً معلقتين بك، بكل ما فيهما من وجد وعشق لا موت له. وليس لنا موت، كلانا، هذا ما أريده. هذه النظرة، كاصطدام صلب ماثل، وكلها حنان، أريدها، أريدها أن تظل بعد الموت، إلى ما وراء الموت".
تطمح هذه الرواية إلى أن تعانق التاريخ الإنساني من خلال رؤيا متقدمة، وتحلم بأن تعانق الحقيقة الكلية، وأن تتجاوز الوجود المليء بالرداءة والسقوط والواحدية، لتخلق عالماً رمزياً مليئاً بمفرداته المتجادلة، ومستوياته المتداخلة.
الرواية تتقطر فيها كثافة العالم في محاولة للتبشير بوضع إنساني مغاير؛ إنها رؤيا تعيد النظر في كل ما يحيط بنا.
