شهدت الأمَّة المسلمة إثرَ ضياع الخلافة هزيمةً فكريةً ونفسيةً ممَّا تسبَّب في ضياع الهوية، وذهاب المرجعية؛ في هذه الظروف الصعبة ظهرت في الساحة حركاتٌ ترفع شعاراتٍ إسلاميةٍ، ومنها ما كان مجانباً للصواب، ركبت مركب العنف، ولعلَّ أكبر ضريبة يدفعها المسلمون نتيجة تبنِّي العنف في التغيير، هي محاربة الدين وأهله تحت ذريعة محاربة الإرهاب!..
تناول الكتاب في فصله الأول الأسباب والبواعث، مشيراً إلى أنَّ معرفة أسباب الغلو، هي أهمُّ بكثيرٍ من محاكمة أهله، لأنَّ تقوية جهاز المناعة في جسم الأمَّة، يوفِّر عليها ضرائب لا يعلم حدودها إلا الله جلَّ في علاه.
ثمَّ تحدَّث في الفصل الثاني عن الآثار السلبية لمسلك تبنِّي العنف في التغيير، بغية بيان التبعات والنتائج التي يفرزها التشدُّد، الذي أسدَل أصحابُه ثوب الشرعية عليه!.
ثمَّ أتى في الفصل الثالث من الكتاب على بعض الأفكار الناجعة، علَّها تسهم في حلِّ معضلة هذا الجانب من الغلو؛ من خلال استراتيجيةٍ إسلاميةٍ اهتدت بهدي الله، واستندت إلى تأصيلاتٍ شرعيةٍ مقرونةٍ بأدلةٍ معتبرةٍ، سلَّط الكاتب الضوء عليها بتوصيفاتٍ ومخرجاتٍ تتَّسم بالعمق والموضوعية.
وفي الخاتمة ألمح الكاتب إلى واقعٍ سلبيٍّ ملموسٍ على الأرض، نتيجة ممارسة العنف في عملية التغيير! وكيف تسبَّب في إجهاض المشروع الإسلاميِّ الدعويِّ النهضويِّ المأمول، ثم انتهى مبيِّناً كيف أنَّ الغلو عند أهل الفكر والعلم آفة الدين، وعلَّة التديُّن معاً، إذ هو يجعل ما ليس شرعيًّا أمراً شرعيًّاً!. والحلول التي أتى عليها، إذا ما أسقطناها على أرض الواقع فإنَّ الغلو سيؤول بمشيئة الله إلى سرابٍ، ولا يتأتَّى هذا المطلب إلا بتضافر جهود المخلصين من هذه الأمَّة باختلاف مواقعهم، والله من وراء القصد وهو الهادي إلى سواء السبيل.
