بعد أن قام المهندس الحديثي والمفكر د. محمد عمراني حنشي بتحقيق الأخبار المنسوبة الى الرسول (ص) رواية ودراية وأثبت ضعف مخارج طرقها وأنها مكذوبة وموضوعة لأغراض سياسية وليس كما يدّعي الحشوية بتواتر الاخبار فيها رغم أن الإمام البخاري رحمه الله لم يعرج عليه في كتابه الصحيح.
عاد الدكتور مرّة أخرى للبحث عن جذور هذه الأسطورة التي وجدت طريقها الى كتب الحديث. فأسطورة المهدي تعود الى الديانة الزرادشتية التي تؤمن بالمخلّص وهي غارقة في الموروث الوثني وتظهر هذه الأسطورة في منعطفات ومراحل تاريخية مرتبطة بالأزمات واليأس والاستسلام.
فنجدها عند البرتغال والصين وروسيا وألمانيا والبرازيل والمكسيك في مراحل مختلفة عند هؤلاء.
أما المخلّص في الإسلام فهو القرآن الكريم كما يقول الدكتور عمراني حنشي
