عالم نفس وفيلسوف إنساني ألماني أمريكي ولد في مدينة فرانكفورت -ألمانيا في 23 مارس عام 1900. هاجر إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في 1934 من أعماله :الخوف من الحرية (1941) التحليل النفسى والدين (1950) اللغة المنسية : مدخل إلى فهم الأحلام والقصص الخيالية والأساطير (1951) المجتمع العاقل (1955) رسالة سيجموند فرويد : تحليل لشخصيته وتأثيره (1959) أزمة التحليل النفسى : مقالات عن فرويد وماركس وعلم النفس الاجتماعى (1970) تشريح نزوع الإنسان إلى التدمير (1973) كما حرر كتبا، بأقلام كتاب متعددين عن بوذية زن ومفهوم ماركس للإنسان وغيرها توفي فروم في 23 مارس عام 1980.
Book Description
هل التعارض كلي بين الشرحين الماركسي والفرويدي، أي بين المنطلق الإجتماعي الإقتصادي والمنطلق اللاشعوري - السيكولوجي في فهم الإنسان، بحيث أن الذي يختار أحدهما يسقط الآخر؟.
هذا ما رأه عدد كبير من الباحثين في نهاية النصف الأول من هذا القرن وبداية النصف الثاني، حتى لكأن كلاً من النظريتين تشد الإنسان بكليته إليها.
والواقع أن كل نظرية تتجاوز حدود الإختصاص الضيق، تعطي لذاتها الحق بالكلية، فهي علم وفلسفة، جمالية وأخلاق، وأحياناً طبيعة وما بعد الطبيعة... وتلك مشكلة النظريات الكبرى، أن في الإنسان، بوصفه مبدعاً لذاته ولعالمه ولعلمه، فائضاً عن كل شرح وتفسير، هو حيث قد تختلف النظريات يوماً إلى حد التجاهل والتنابذ، وقد تلتقي يوماً وتتكامل.
وقد تكون محاولة إيريش فروم، على الخصوص في هذا الكتاب - إحدى أنضج المحاولات للتأليف بين ماركس وفرويد، فالدراسات التسع المنشورة في الكتاب هي خلاصة رحلة طويلة في الكتب وعلى أرض الواقع مع مفكرين، كان وما يزال لهما الأثر الأكبر في فهم عصرنا وتوجيه فكرنا.
ويزيد في قيمة الكتاب أنه يجمع بين وضوح العرض وعمقه وبين دقته وشموله.
