محمد الطيب النجار (1334 - 1411 هـ = 1916 - 1991 م)
رئيس جامعة الأزهر الأسبق .
نشأ بقرية النجار بمركز أبو حماد بمحافظة الشرقية وحصل على الإجازة العالية من كلية أصول الدين عام 1939 والدكتوراة عام 1946 وتدرج في المناصب بجامعة الأزهر حتى تولى رئاسة الجامعة منذ عام 1979 وحتى 1983.
عين الطيب النجار عضواً بمجمع البحوث الإسلامية ثم عضواً بمجمع اللغة العربية وعضواً بهيئة الرقابة الشرعية لبنك فيصل الإسلامي وعضواً بالمجالس القومية المتخصصة . له العديد من المؤلفات في التاريخ والحضارة الإسلامية والتفسير كما مثل الأزهر في العديد من المؤتمرات الإسلامية العلمية والدولية.
