ما بين بساتين أريافنا الخضراء، وحروف أطفالنا التي خُطَّت على جدرانٍ لطالما ذكّرناها بما ليس فيها،
وقلنا إنها تسترق السمع، وتملك آذانًا صاغية تخدم أسيادها وتذود عنهم، أو ربما هي من صنيعتهم.
تلوّنت لأجلهم، وتحصّنت بها أذنابهم وسطورهم، لا لشيء سوى لتصنع في نفوسنا بذور خوفٍ أبدية،
تنطق بها ألسنتنا، وتصمت بها كلماتنا عن قول الحق أو مجابهة الظالم، حتى ولو بأنفسنا.
لم نكن نعلم أن تلك الجدران ستكون أول من يسقط، وأول من يُدمَّر بحقدهم، ويتذوّق مرارة ظلمهم وقسوتهم.
نحن الذين عايشنا كل ذلك، وربما تحوّلت كل أحلامنا إلى حلمٍ واحد لا غير:
وهو سقوط طاغية الشام وذيوله.
جاء ذاك اليوم في شتاء ذلك العام، حيث غابت شمسه، ولكن أشرقت شمسٌ أخرى طالما بحثنا عنها، ولو خفيةً وخِيفة.
إنها شمس الحرية التي صدحت بها حناجر أطفالنا، وخطّتها أيديهم على تلك الجدران التي اكتشفنا أننا من ظالميها،
ليكسروا سنين الخوف الطويلة التي سكنت نفوسنا، وأرعبت أقلامنا وألسنتنا وقلوبنا.
وهنا تبدأ حكايتنا، التي خُطّت بدماءٍ وأشلاءٍ ارتوت بها أرضنا، حتى نطقت بأسمائهم حزنًا وألمًا ، وأملًا لم يعد يُقهر.
