مقدمة:
يُعدّ هذا الكتاب ، ضمن سلسلة الخلق التي صدرت في أوائل القرن العشرين، مرجعًا قيّمًا للمحتوى الأساسي؛ إذ يتناول عشرات الآلهة والكتب والحقب التاريخية في مصر القديمة، في سياق الحديث عن الديانة المصرية القديمة، التي مارست التوحيد لفترة وجيزة مع إخناتون قبل قرون من ظهور المسيحية، والتي استطاعت التطور لآلاف السنين أكثر من أي شكل ديني آخر تقريبًا. ورغم أن بعض المواد الواردة فيه قديمة من الناحية الأكاديمية، إلا أنها تمثل فترة فريدة في الدراسات الباطنية؛ إذ شهدت أواخر القرن التاسع عشر وأوائل القرن العشرين نهضة في الدراسات الروحية ونموًا سريعًا في التاريخ الديني في تلك الحقبة.
