الفصل الأول: سر المقبرة المفقودة
في قلب الصحراء الممتدة، حيث الرمال لا تنتهي والنيل ينساب كأنفاس الحياة، كانت هناك واحة صغيرة لا يعرفها الكثيرون. في هذه الواحة وُلد فتى أطلقوا عليه اسم نفر-آمون.
منذ طفولته، بدا مختلفًا عن سائر أقرانه. كان يسمع همسات غريبة في الليل، همسات تأتيه من أعماق الأرض. كان يراها كأحلام، لكن مع مرور الوقت أدرك أن ما يسمعه ليس مجرد أوهام.
عندما كبر، صار شابًا قوي البنية، بعيونٍ حادة كأنها تقرأ ما وراء الأشياء. لكنه ظل يخفي سرًا لم يبح به لأحد:
حين يلمس الرمال بيديه، تتحرك ببطء تحت أصابعه كما لو أنها تستجيب له.
في البداية ظنها مصادفة، ثم صار يتجنب لمس الرمال أمام الناس خوفًا من أن يُكشف أمره.
وفي إحدى الليالي، خرج وحده يسير قرب أطلال معبد قديم مهجور. المعبد كان منسيًا، تحيط به الأساطير عن لعنة تحرسه. وقف أمام حجر ضخم نصفه غارق في الرمال، وقد نُقشت عليه رموز غامضة لم يرَ مثلها من قبل.
انحنى ليلمس الحجر بيده، وما إن فعل ذلك حتى ارتجت الأرض من تحته. الرمال اهتزت كأنها كائن حي، وانفجرت في دوامة صغيرة، ثم انشقّت عن ممر مظلم يقود إلى أعماق الأرض.
هبّت ريح باردة من الممر، كأنها أنفاس من عالم آخر، ومعها انطفأت شعلة المصباح الذي كان يحمله.
تراجع نفر-آمون خطوة، وعقله يمتلئ بالخوف والدهشة. كان الممر يدعوه للدخول، لكن صوته الداخلي كان يصرخ:
"احذر… إن دخلت، فلن تعود كما كنت."
وقف طويلًا عند فوهة الممر، بين رغبته في الهرب ورغبته في اكتشاف الحقيقة. قلبه يخفق كطبول حرب، وعيناه معلقتان بذلك الظلام الممتد أمامه.
وهناك، على حافة القرار، أدرك أن حياته على وشك أن تتغير إلى الأبد.
