انقسم الناس في علم المنطق إلى طرفين ووسط، فالطرف الأول: يُنكر هذا العلم؛ بل يحرِّم تعلمه، والطرف الآخر: جعل هذا العلم أساساً يُبنى عليه كل شيء؛ بل لا ثقة بعلوم من جهله، والوسط بينهما: أنه علمٌ مفيدٌ إذا نُقِّي مما يشوبه من كلام الفلاسفة، فهو كعلم النحو؛ إذ تعلمه يفيد عدم الوقوع في اللَّحن، فإنه لا ينتج ألفاظاً؛ وإنما يضبط النطق بها، وكعلم العَروض؛ لا ينتج صوراً شعرية، بل يقيم الوزن الشعري، فإن علم المنطق هو (نَحْوُ العقول)، لا ينتج أفكاراً؛ بل يضبط عملية التفكير لدى الإنسان، أي: أنه يساعد على ترتيب الأفكار وإقامة الحجة؛ لا أنه يساعدك في إنتاج أفكارٍ جيِّدة.
