هذا الكتاب هو عبارة عن مجموعة من المقالات الحوارية، والتي تمت كتابتها على مدار سنوات متعاقبة، وقد قمت فيها بصياغة الحوار الذي دار (ولازال يدور) بيني وبين صديقي المثقف والمناضل السياسي أ. محمد عرابي (أحد أقطاب اليسار المصري في صعيد مصر، وعضو اللجنة المركزية لحزب التجمع الوحدوي الاشتراكي) والذي تحاورت معه بخصوص مجموعة متنوّعة من القضايا الشائكة الخلافية في طبيعتها، والتي أردت من خلال كتابة الحوار، أن تكون في صورة مقالية لاستبيان رأي شخص مجرّب وفي معترك الحياة السياسية منذ شبابه، ويحمل تجرِبة ذات زخم وثقل، قد تستفيد منه الأجيال القادمة، والتي لم يحالفها الحظ للتواصل مع الأجيال الرائدة في المضمار السياسي والاجتماعي، والتي للأسف الشديد، بدأت تنقرض تدريجياً مع الزمن بتساقط أبطالها تباعاً مع السنين. لذا كانت تلك الحوارات بمثابة توثيق لرؤية جيل كامل، قد نتفق أو نختلف معه، ولكن لا يسعنا إلا أن نحترم تجرِبته وميراثه الثقافي والنضالي.
