يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى الوقوف على التحديات التي تواجه الثقافة العربية لبناء مجتمع المعرفة، وكشف أبعادها ومستجداتها لتدارك مخاطرها التي غدت تمثل تحديا أما كل شعوب العالم.
كما يقف الكتاب أمام آليات بناء وصناعة المعرفة العربية، ورصد مصادر هذه الصناعة -فيما نملك بالفعل- ومنه على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، الوقوف أمام أوضاع مكتباتنا العربية وبحث احتمالات وصيغ وأشكال تطورها لتتمكن من الإسهام في صناعة مجتمع المعرفة.
