في هذا الكتاب شرحٌ مختصرٌ للشمائل المحمدية.
والشمائل هي الصفات المتعلقة بشخصية نبيّ الرحمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، وتشمل :
_ صفاتُه الخَلقية، مثل: شكله عليه الصلاه والسلام، لونه، هيئته، مشيته، جلساته.
_ وصفاتُه الخُلقية، مثل : خِصاله والأخلاق التي تحلّى بها عليه الصلاه والسلام، مثل : كرمه، شجاعته، حلمه، وحسن خلقه.
وقد تحدّث كتاب الشمائل المحمدية للترمذي عن ترجّل رسول الله ولباسه وطعامه وشرابه وقدحه وحاجياته الخاصه مثل خاتمه ونعله وسيفه ودرعه وعمامته وإزاره وفراشه، كما ذكر جلساته ومشيته و تطرق إلى تفاصيل عبادته، ثم إلى وفاته عليه الصلاه والسلام، ورؤيته في المنام بهدف معرفته و التأسي به قولا وعملاً.
يجب معرفة رسول الله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بشخصِهِ حتى يمكننا اتّباعه بحبّ، وقد قال بعض الصالحين : مقصّرٌ من لم يعرف شمائل نبيّه.
تم في هذا الكتاب شرح موجز ومفيد بإذن الله عز وجلّ لأحاديث الشمائل المحمدية شرحاً يُغني طالب العلم والمسلمين عامةً عن الكتب المطوّلة في هذا الباب، وقد تم إضافة فوائد وسُنن مستنبطة من هذه الأحاديث يمكننا إحياؤها لنفوز برضا الله، وصحبته عليه الصلاه والسلام أبد الآبدين.
