هذا الكتاب صدرت منه الطبعة الأولى باسم (مشيخة الحضارم وأنسابهم)، وتم تحوير الإسم في الطبعة الحالية إلى كتاب يؤرخ لأسرة آل السقاف (بني الشيخ عبدالرحمن العزب) - منطقة الحضارم - الحجرية - تعز اليمن ؛ منذ انتقال الجد الجامع الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن عبدالله بن عمر الشهاب في تاريخ (٩٧٥ من الهجرة الشريفة) من مدينة تريم الغناء إلى مدينة عدن حيث يكن عند الشيخ العيدروس لفترة مؤقتة ثم انتقل إلى قرية المصعد في المقاطعة تعز. تأسست بعدها مشيخة روحية دينية في منطقتي المصعد مقاطرة ومنطقة الحضارم الشمايتين، ثم تأسست مشيخة سياسية إبان الاحتلال التركي اليمن. يتضمن الكتاب سرد تاريخي ومشجرات للنسب، وأهم أعلام الحضارم، وأبرز المشاهد التاريخية الرمزية ، وملحق للوثائق والصور.
