"العودة إلى الظلام" هي رواية رعب نفسي مشوقة تبدأ برسالة غامضة يتلقاها "عمر" من صديقه القديم "يوسف"، الذي اختفى منذ عدة سنوات. في الرسالة، يحذره يوسف من العودة إلى بيت الظلال، وهو منزل قديم في قريته، يُقال إنه يحمل لعنة قديمة لا تزال تؤثر على من يجرؤ على الاقتراب منه.
"عمر"، الذي يعتقد أن الرسالة مجرد خدعة أو محاولة للفت انتباهه، يقرر العودة إلى قريته المهجورة. ومع وصوله، يشعر بشيء غريب في الهواء. القرية التي نشأ فيها أصبحت مكانًا مظلمًا، خاليًا من الحياة، وكأنها مدينة أشباح. أجواء غريبة تسيطر على المكان، والأبنية القديمة تلتهم الأنفاس.
بينما يتجول "عمر" في القرية، يكتشف أن هناك شيئًا غير طبيعي يحدث. أصوات هامسة تلاحقه، ومشاهد غريبة تظهر أمامه، حتى يصل إلى بيت "يوسف". في داخل المنزل، يجد رسائل غامضة تشير إلى أن "يوسف" قد حاول فتح شيء قديم في البيت، ولكن لم يتمكن من إغلاقه، مما جعل اللعنة تعود مجددًا.
يبدأ "عمر" في اكتشاف أسرار مظلمة تتعلق بالمنزل، وأحداث غير قابلة للتفسير تبدأ في الحدوث حوله. مع كل خطوة يخطوها، يصبح أكثر قربًا من السر الذي يكمن في الظلال، ويبدأ في التساؤل: هل يعود "يوسف" بالفعل من أجل تحذيره؟ أم أن كل ما يحدث هو نتيجة لشيء أعمق وأخطر مما يمكن تصوره؟
الرواية تتطور لتكشف عن تحولات مفاجئة، حيث يكتشف "عمر" أن بيت الظلال ليس مجرد منزل قديم، بل هو بوابة لعالم آخر، وعليه أن يواجه قوته المظلمة قبل أن يصبح ضحية لها.
