إنّ شرح العلّامة الجامي قدّس اللّٰه سرّه على كافية ابن الحاجب قد أخذ حظّا وافرا من إقبال العلماء عليه، ونال مكانة متميزة من عناية الفضلاء به، فوضعوا عليه عشرات الحواشي والتّعليقات، وأشهر هذه الحواشي على الإطلاق حاشية تلميذه الفاضل العصام الّتي اشتهرت فيما بين العلماء بـ«حاشية العصام على الجامي»، ولشدّة الاهتمام بها فقد وضعتْ عليها حواشٍ وتعليقاتٌ كثيرة، لحلّ عويصات مسائلها، وكشف مغلقات مباحثها، وإيضاح غوامض شواهدها، وتوضيح أوابي أبياتها وربط شواردها، ومن جملة من خدم هذه الحاشية كما خدم شرح الجامي هو العالم الفاضل وحدي إبراهيم بن مصطفى الرومي، حيث قام بشرح أبياتها، وكشف الحجاب عن وجوه مخدّراتها، واستكشف مكنونات رموزها وأسرارها، واطّلع على مستودعات كنوزها وأستارها، فجاء شرحًا تتزيّن بجميل ثيابها أفكار المحصّلين، وتنشرح لنقاط مسك حروفها صدور المقتبسين
