عندما تغوصون في هذا الكتاب سوف ترون كيف أن كثيرين حاولوا فهم المرأة ومنهم من حاول الكتابة عنها، منهم من رفع شأنها ومنهم من حط منه، مشاهير وفنانون تكلموا عنها، وكتاب كثيرون وصفوها مع الشعراء، وأصبحت هي البطلة في روايات كثيرة، إذ أنها شغلت الجميع، منهم من نعرفه ومن لا نعرفه، من بين من تحدث عنها مصريين وأجانب، بل وكانت هي الشغل الشاغل للعرب في أشعارهم، ولكنني على الرغم من أنني صاحب هذا الكتاب لكنني لست المؤلف ولا البطل، لأن المؤلف الحقيقي لهذا الكتاب هو حواء، فأنا لم ألعب سوى دور المخرج، ولهذا كنت أجمع بعض الكلمات التي اعتبرتها بمثابة حكمة جميلة فيما قل ودل، وكنت أدونها عندي منذ حداثتي، ظناً منى أنها تصلح يوماً لأن تكون كتاباً، وفعلاً قد أصبح الحلم حقيقة اليوم بين أيديكم.
