تعتبر رحلة شفاء الغرام في حج بيت الله الحرام للفقيه محمد بن محمد الحجوجي من أهم الرحلات الحجازية التي ألفت في غضون القرن العشرين، ليس فقط للمكانة العلمية التي يتمتع بها صاحبها، أيضا لكونها نشاط علمي متميز، لما تتضمنه من ديوان أدبي، وسجل تاريخي، حيث حرص مؤلفها تسجيل وتدوين كل ما صادفه في طريقه أثناء رحلته الموسوعية من معتقدات وأعراف، وطقوس، وكل ما هو ديني واجتماعي واقتصادي وكذا سياسي، والتي بطرحها وإخراجها إلى الوجود أن تكون منطلق لأبحاث أخرى تختص بدراسة إحدى الجوانب المذكورة.
