من أسباب اختيار هذا الموضوع هو قلَّة تناول الباحثين لمؤلفات الأشموني العالم النحوي اللغوي، ومكانة الألفية وكثرة شرَّاحها الذين تناولوها بالبحث والتدقيق، فكثير من العلماء تنافسوا في نثرها وإعرابها وإظهار غوامضها وحل مسائلها، والأشموني واحد من هؤلاء، وهدف هذا البحث هو التعريف بالأشموني العالم النحوي وإبراز القيمة العلمية لشرحه، والوقوف على المسائل التي تابع فيها النحويين الكوفيين، وتقوم هذه الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي على النحو الآتي:
1- أضع عنوانًا للمسائل، وقد يعبر العنوان عن رأي الأشموني.
2- تقديم كلام الأشموني الذي وقع فيه الخلاف لذا كان عرض المسائل وفق ترتيب ابن مالك لأبيات ألفيته.
3- أورد ما استدلَّ به الأشموني فيها بنصه، موضحًا موضع الاستدلال، وقد أتصرف به إن كان طويلًا.
4- تحليل كلام الأشموني وذكر ما في المسألة من مذاهب أخرى.
5- قد يعرض في بعض المسائل سهو من العلماء المتأخرين في نسبة الآراء إلى قائلها، لذا عنيت بتحقيق نسبتها إلى أصحابها، وبيَّنتُ وجهة السهو فيها، معتمدًا في ذلك على كتبهم وترجيح ما آراه صوابًا، مهتديًا بآراء النحويين.
