تعويذة دانجرفيلد، هي عبارة عن ذراع ذهبية قديمة مرصعة بالألماس وتقدر قيمتها بخمسين ألف جنيه إسترليني، وهي كنز بلا حراسة، و على الرغم من سرقتها أكثر من مرة، إلا أنها تعود دائمًا. حيث كانت تحوى على سر دانجرفيلد. و قد أقام العجوز رولو دانجيرفيلد مالكها حفلة منزلية، في بيته وفي إحدى الليالي أثناء عاصفة رعدية شديدة، اختفت تعويذة الذراع. و لم يبدو المالك منزعجًا، حيث كان مقتنع أنه في غضون سبعة أيام، ستعود. و قد عقد الضيوف العزم على التحقيق فيما بينهم، وكشفوا عن التعقيدات الأكثر إرباكًا. حيث إن لغز هذه القصة المثيرة يسحبك إلى حد ما من على كرسيك المريح إلى مكتبك، حيث يمكن باستخدام قلم رصاص وورقة معرفة من كان في المنزل وما هي حجج غيابهم. و هناك في العمل حبكة الأعمال البوليسية الذكية مع العديد من التقلبات الجديدة، بالاضافة الى لغز الشطرنج الذي تم طرحه. ويمكن حقًا أن يطلق عليه لغزً داخل لغز. وقد تم نشر تعويذة دانجرفيلد في عام 1926.
