علم المتاحف هو العلم المختص بدراسة المتاحف وتعريف مفهومها، وتحديد الطرق اللازمة لتحقيقها، وتطبيق الضوابط والمعايير الأساسية لإقامة المباني المتحفية.

فن عصر النهضة هو الرّسم والموسيقى والعمارة والنحت والأدب الذي تمّ إنتاجه خلال القرنين الرابع عشر والسّادس عشر في أوروبا، نتيجة للوعي المتزايد آنذاك للطبيعة والتّعلم الكلاسيكي والنظرة الفردية للإنسان، فالنهضة تعني إعادة الميلاد وهو ما حدث في أوروبا بعد زيادة الحراك الاجتماعي وعلمنة الحياة اليومية، وظهور الاقتصاد النقدي.
وظهرت صياغة (فن عصر النهضة) لأول مرة عام 1855م من قِبل المؤرخ الفرنسي جويل ميشلت للإشارة إلى الرسم المبتكر والعمارة والنحت في إيطاليا من 1400 إلى 1530
