وصف الكتاب

Waggle of Wagon
A Novel about inexplicable events
Nadhim Mejbil Faleh
2026
This is not just a story about a car.
It is a story about a universe we were told is dead… and an old gray wagon that quietly says otherwise.
On a cold October morning in 2025, in an almost empty parking lot at UC Berkeley, something happens that no strict materialist would accept easily: an old, tired Honda Civic refuses to start at the exact moment its owner mutters, “Maybe it’s time to sell you.” The engine dies. No sound. No warning. Then, the moment she steps away, the car suddenly comes back to life, as if saying, “You don’t get to decide my end.”
Lina Bennett is not an ordinary girl. She is a physics grad student raised in a home that reduces the world to equations. Her father is a hardcore materialist physicist who believes consciousness is just a side effect of brain activity. Her mother is a devoted Christian who lives by rituals and never asks the deep questions that keep Lina awake at night. Between these two worlds, Lina feels something is missing: her mother’s God is not enough, and her father’s cold universe is unbearable.
When the car refuses to start for anyone but her, when it shuts down the moment, she talks about replacing it, then behaves as if it is jealous, Lina is pushed toward a question she cannot ignore:
Can a piece of metal remember? Prefer? Choose?
That’s when Sophia walks into the story, a sharp, calm lab partner with bright eyes and a quiet smile. She carries more than pens and a notebook in her lab coat. She carries “five truths” that will turn Lina’s world upside down. Sophia doesn’t preach. She simply suggests:
The universe is one.
The universe is alive.
There is a Creator.
There is a plan.
And everything, even the steel in your car, is moving toward a purpose.
What starts as a strange little “car problem” slowly turns into a black notebook full of careful notes. Lina records every blink, every odd response, every pattern that doesn’t fit the textbooks. She doesn’t want to become “the girl who believes in miracles.” She wants to be a scientist who refuses to close her eyes when reality misbehaves.
But what do you do when the evidence itself pushes you away from the safe walls of materialism?
With each chapter, the thread pulls tighter:
– The car won’t start for anyone else.
– The headlights blink at moments that feel like answers.
– The radio keeps choosing songs that cut into old memories or comfort her when she’s afraid.
– On a stormy night, when the road becomes a trap, the car seems to know the way out better than any human driver.
“Waggle of Wagon” is not about a “haunted car.”
It is about a young woman forced to rewrite everything she thought she knew about reality.
This is a story about:
– A father who watches his daughter drift, in his eyes, from science into “nonsense,” only to find himself unable to explain what he sees with his own eyes.
– A mother who wonders if that old line about “the stones crying out” might not be just a metaphor after all.
– A friend (Sophia) with her own history of loss and mystery, who gently pushes Lina toward the idea that science is not the enemy of wonder, but one of its doors.
– A young woman standing on a bridge between two worlds: one that reduces everything to “physical law,” and another where intention and meaning are hiding behind the events we call “random.”
Through it all, the gray wagon never speaks in words. It simply shows up:
In the quiet street outside Lina’s window.
On late-night drives to the hills above the Pacific.
In the split second where it swerves to save her life without her touching the wheel.
In the tense seminar where she dares to present her “impossible” data to a room full of physicists.
This novel will take you from a plain parking lot in Berkeley to questions as wide as the cosmos:
– What if consciousness is not something the brain “produces,” but something spread across everything?
– What if the things we use with care and loyalty begin, in their own way, to be loyal back?
– What if the universe itself is trying new ways to say, “I am not dead. I see you?
Before you turn to Chapter One, remember:
This is not just a story about a girl and her car.
It is the story of a universe that has been silent for a long time…
and decides to “wag its tail” through an old gray wagon.
Maybe, when you finish this book, you will never look at your own car, or any “lifeless” object, in quite the same way again.
