The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into higher education is transforming traditional approaches to teaching, learning, assessment, and institutional management. While existing research has extensively examined AI applications, adoption challenges, and ethical considerations, limited attention has been given to the governance structures required to manage sustainable human–AI collaboration within educational institutions. This paper argues that AI integration should not be conceptualized solely as a technological implementation process, but rather as an institutional governance challenge involving the redistribution of decision authority, responsibility, and organizational practices.
