ابن المبارك (118 - 181هـ ، 736 - 797م).
أبو عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن المبارك بن واضح الحنظلي، التركي ثم المرْوزي. الإمام الحافظ شيخ الإسلام، عالم زمانه، طلب العلم وهو ابن عشرين سنة. وكان أوَّل شيخ لقيه: الربيع بن أنس، ثم ارتحل سنة 141هـ، 758م وأخذ عمَّن لقيه من التابعين. وأكثر من الترحال والتطواف، وقضى حياته في طلب العلم وفي الغزو وفي التجارة. حدّث عن حميد الطويل وإسماعيل بن أبي خالد والأعمش ويحيى بن سعيد الأنصاري والأوزاعي وغيرهم.
حدّث عنه عبد الرحمن بن مهدي ويحيى القطان وعبد الرزاق الصنعاني وابن معين وأبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وغيرهم. وحديثه حجة بالإجماع.
وكان قد جمع الحديث، والفقه، والعربية، وأيام الناس، والشجاعة، والسخاء، وغير ذلك من خصال الخير.
خلّف عدة مصنفات، طُبع منها: الزهدوالرقائق؛ الجهاد؛ البر والصلة. وجزء من مسنده.
