يتناول المقرر التعريف بعلاقة المعاق بالأسرة والمجتمع، فبعد توضيح التغيرات التي طرأت على إستجابة المجتمعات الإنسانية وإتجاهاتها نحو الإعاقة والمعاقين، بين المقرر تأثيرات الإعاقة في الأسرة، ويستعرض إستراتيجيات تدريب وإرشاد ودعم الأسر، ويبين المرتكزات الأساسية لمفهوم تأهيل المعاقين في الأسر والمجتمع.
ويأتي المقرر في ست وحدات دراسية على النحو الآتي: الوحدة الأولى: "الإعاقة في المجتمعات المعاصرة"، الوحدة الثانية: "الإعاقة والأسرة"، الوحدة الثالثة: "إرشاد أسر الأفراد المعاقين ودعمها"، الوحدة الرابعة: "تدريب أسر الأفراد المعاقين"، الوحدة الخامسة: "تأهيل المعاق ورعايته في أسرته، وفي المجتمع المحلي"، الوحدة السادسة: "الإتجاهات نحو المعاقين: جذورها، والعوامل المشكلة لها، وطرق تعديلها".
علاقة المعوق بالاسرة والمجتمع، واتجاهات افراد الاسرة والمجتمع وردود فعلهم نحو الاعاقة والمعاق، ومراحل تكيف الاسرة مع حالة الاعاقة.
