حيث يزود الكتاب بمقدمة من الصعوبات والمشكلات العلمية المتعلقة بمهارات المعالجة النفسية وتعلمها. وقد كتب إستجابة لحاجة المبتدئين بالعلاج النفسي، وليكون بمثابة دليل علمي وموجه، وإستجابة لحاجة المؤلفين أنفسهم ليكون عندهم مرجع يعتمدون عليه أثناء الإشراف على المعالجين المتدربين.
