الأستخدامات التقليدية في المناطق الصحراوية الجافة بدرجتها من شدة الجفاف وقلة مياه الري تتمثل في الرعي والزراعة المطرية والزراعة المروية حيثما توفرت موارد إضافية للمياه, وقد قدرت أستخدامات الأراضي في المناطق الصحراوية الجافة في العالم علي النحو التالي: %41 رعي البدو, 13% زراعة مطرية, 25% مراعي دائمة, 2% زراعة مروية, 16% أراضي غير مستعملة و3% صيد وقنص. وكما هو موضح فالحيز الأكبر من الأراضي الجافة يتمثل في أراضي المراعي وتربية الحيوان وذلك علي نمطي البدو حيث التنقل حيثما وجد المطر والعشب والأستقرار أي المراعي الدائمة في المناطق شبه الجافة, وقد ثبت إن نباتات الأتربلكس تتلائم مع معظم الظروف التي تتواجد في أراضي المناطق الجافة وشبه الجافة, ولذا خصص هذا العدد من سلسلة الوعي الزراعي للإلقاء الضوء علي زراعة نباتات الأتربلكس في الأراضي الصحراوية وتقنيات تغذية الأغنام عليها. وندعو الله عز وجل أن تكون المادة العلمية المقدمة وافية لكل من يعملون في مجال الأستثمار الزراعي.
