يؤرخ هذا الكتاب ويحلل حقبة الرئيس أنور السادات، والخيارات السياسية التي راهن عليها وسار بها داخلياً وخارجياً، بحثاً عن سلام وتنمية موهومين، فانتهت به هذه الخيارات باتفاقيات كامب دايفيد المنفردة بينه وبين إسرائيل، التي لم تحقق، رغم مرور أربعة عقود على توقيعها، ما كان السادات يعد به من أوهام استعادة الأرض، وتحقيق التنمية والسلام.
