وصل مبكرًا قبل بداية الطابور. جلس في الفصل وحيدًا. يلف المدرسة هدوء عميق. وضع الحقيبة على الأرض، وأحكم إغلاق الشبابيك. وقف ينظر عبر الزجاج، السيارات قليلة، والأسفلت مبلول، والبرد محيط بكل شيء. تذكر حلم الليلة الماضية. رأى هاني يطير في فناء المدرسة، يرفرف وقد نبت له جناحان. يطير فَرِحا فوق رؤوسهم جميعا، ويشري إليه الأولاد ضاحكين ومدرّسة بدينة لم يتبين وجهها.
أراد أن يدون الرؤيا قبل أن ينسى. همّ أن يُخرِج الكشكول والقلم قبل أن يأتي زملاؤه، فرأى الشمس قد سطعت، وارتمت على البيوت القديمة، كأنها تسند جدرانها المتعبة، التي نخرتها الرطوبة وأثقلها مرور الزمن.
