لقد قدمت مدارس قضاء أبـي الخصيب في السنوات السابقة في الفترة ما بين عام 1960-1980 الكثير من النشاطات الفنية. وقد تميزت تلك النشاطات من مسرحيات وأوبريتات بأهدافها التربوية والوطنية والتاريخية والأدبية. وقد عرضت بعض تلك النشاطات في تلفزيون البصرة في حينها وعلى مسارح خارج القضاء، مثل مسرح بهو الإدارة المحلية وقاعة التربية إضافة إلى مسرح قاعة الاجتماعات في أبـي الخصيب ومسارح مدارس القضاء. وقد حصلت تلك الأعمال الفنية على العديد من الجوائز التقديرية والهدايا من عدة جهات ومنها جائزة الأستاذ حقي الشبلي المدير العام للنشاط الفني في القطر العراقي، ولما كنت في تلك الفترة مسؤول النشاط المدرسي في أبـي الخصيب ثم أصبحت بعد ذلك مشرفاً تربوياً للنشاط الفني في المديرية العامة لتربية البصرة فقد كنت أحتفظ بكافة نصوص المسرحيات والأوبريتات وصورها وتسجيلاتها الصوتية التي قدمتها مدارس أبـي الخصيب. إضافة إلى المعارض الفنية والنشاطات الرياضية والمسيرات وغيرها، ولكن ومع الأسف تعرضت للتلف بحادث حريق للغرفة التي كنت احتفظ بها لتلك الصور والنصوص والتسجيلات الصوتية. إن الغاية من نشر هذا الكراس (صور من الماضي) هي للتعريف ببعض النشاطات التي قدمتها مدارس أبـي الخصيب في سنوات سابقه. كما أقدمه هدية تقدير واعتزاز لزميلاتي الفاضلات وزملائي الأفاضل وطالباتي العزيزات وطلابـي الأعزاء الذين كان لجهودهم وتعاونهم ومساهماتهم الأثر الكبير في نجاح تلك الأعمال إلى المستوى الذي نال الإعجاب والتقدير.
