Saudi Arabic, the kingdom situated on the Arabian Peninsula, is known for being the birthplace of Islam, since 1932, the Al- Saud family have been leading their kingdom, from the founder king Abdulaziz Al Saud, to his sons, and finally to the modern era with the appointment of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Al- Saud, representing Saudi Arabia’s ambitious and promising youth, and planning every step of the transformation of the face of Saudi Arabia.
Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman launched his precious transformation plan under the name of “Vison 2030”: a plan to wean to the economy off oil, and prepare Saudi Arabia for the post- oil era.
That includes several reforms and projects, and most remarkably NEOM: a semi- autonomous futuristic megacity situated on the Red Sea coast and the East side of the Gulf of Aqaba, which is expected to be completed by 2050.
Another pillar of the development of Saudi Arabia’s economy is the employment of young Saudis, bothe males and females below 30 years of age, which form the majority of Saudi Arabia’s population.
Therefore, employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors are increasing, encouraging self-employment and business and social entrepreneurship, and new sectors are being created to keep up with the kingdom’s transformation.
The Crown Prince has greatly focused on the importance of women’s role in the project: they’re educated, qualified, and ready to enter to job market.
Having had a history of social limits, the women of Saudi Arabia are experiencing a turning point in their roles in society today, like lifting the driving ban, along with many other reforms.
And with all those changes that Saudi Arabia is experiencing, even the key facts of the country are changing at a very rapid pace.
Tourism sector is flourishing rapidly, and apart from religious pilgrimage, the kingdom is working on numerous cultural projects to develop its rich touristic sites.
This publication aims to contain the most comprehensive and up-to-date information with respect to the kingdom’s key facts, its culture, population, media, and other essential information for touristic purposes.
The author has compiled this publication over 40 years of experience with Saudi Arabia.
